Anne Hytta is a composer and a performer of the Hardanger Fiddle, a folk instrument with sympathetic strings and its own repertoire of traditional tunes. Her background is deeply founded in the specific style of this repertoire. She learned the old hardanger fiddle repertoire from a great master, Einar Løndal (1914-2006), and later on also from master Knut Buen (1948-). As a solo performer of the hardanger fiddle, Hytta both play concerts with the old traditional repertoire and also with her own new composed music for the hardanger fiddle. Her performance Gjennom dagen, with video, photos and light design by Evelina Dembacke, features her own new music and stories that are told throughout the performance. In 2014 she released the album Draumsyn with her own music. She received the Norwegian Folk Music Award for best solo album in 2006, 2011 and 2017. In 2017 she received the Norwegian Grammy for her latest solo release “Strimur”. More info on solo performance Through a day. Norsk versjon her: Gjennom dagen Folk musician and composer Anne Hytta keeps impressing - and surprising - the listener with her determined innovative search for the innermost soul of her instrument.
